“We’ll just put a little supercharger over here, and it’ll be our secret.”    -Bob Ross

2016 marked the beginning of the 6th Gen Camaro with the LT1 engine taking up the torch from the LS3 that served GM’s base performance cars for almost a decade.  For some, a stock LT1’s power might prove to be sufficient.  Thankfully our customers aren’t happy with “sufficient” and prefer going a bit more over the top in some areas.

“Bob Ross” is a project that started small, building the foundation to reach the owner’s end goal of supercharging it.  With a DSX Tuning Flex Fuel conversion, we saw gains of 20whp without tuning on E85 alone, and a gross of 40whp with further tuning to round out the flex fuel conversion.

Back for more, we tore down the stock block to install a custom grind camshaft spec’d by Aaron Shoaf at Scoggin-Dickey’s Raceshop which was coined the “Shoafinator 9000.”  Coupled with this we went with Kooks stainless longtube headers and a Rotofab cold air intake.  Running E85, this combination netted 490whp on our dyno.

Parts were ordered for the next round of mods to finish out the build.  A Whipple supercharger, LT4 fuel system, and a few other mods were on the list including replacing the stock catback with the restrictive crushed under axle pipes.

Installation of the Whipple supercharger, LT4 fuel system and other supporting mods netted a solid 700whp and 648 ft/lbs of torque!  This car still retains great drivability and street manners while also having a ton of power on tap in a moment’s notice.
